Post Comment Love 17th-19th February

It's time for Post Comment Love and Stephanie and I are looking forward to reading the great selection of posts that get linked up every week. Link up your best post of the week and give it that little bit of extra exposure.

With the boys off school this week I'm worn out and have no time, but that's normal so you just get on with things don't you. Just a quick hey from me this week (the main picture says it all!) and I'm going to leave you to enjoy reading our Blogger Showcase.

Blogger Showcase Suzanne from Chickenruby

Who are you?

I’m Suzanne, I’m 45 and a Stay at Home/housewife/home executive. I married Peter in 2002 after 2 and half years together. Between us we have 5 children, 4 boys aged 17-26 and a girl aged 28. They live in the UK while Peter and I live in Dubai, I’m originally from South Wales. My background is teaching and education.

How did you discover blogging?

I’ve no idea how I discovered blogging. I joined twitter in 2009 and it led from there.

Why did you start blogging?

I wanted to say more than 140 characters on twitter would allow. My first blog post was about my week as a dalek and it led from there. I blog about my daily life, life as a mother to a disabled adult, teenagers, education, charity, travel and join in with several linkys Project 365, How does your garden grow? Animal Tales and My Sunday Photo.

What do you find most challenging?

I don’t find blogging challenging, I just write when I want and when I feel like it.

What is your favourite topic to write about?

Me, my life. I don’t write about my children, but I do write about how what they do affects me, such as leaving home, visiting, being in boarding school etc. I do enjoy the linkys. HDYGG got me interested in gardening and Animal Tales about where me and my dog, Bob, go during the week and the places I visit for both linkys.

Are you blogging for fun or do you have goals?

I want to keep a record of our lives living abroad, first in South Africa and now in Dubai. The difficulties faced, the fun times and the travel opportunities.

What is your favourite thing about blogging?

I love having an outlet to express myself, I enjoy sharing experiences and reading comments from people who have found my blog and found it helpful with dealing with similar situations. Meeting other like minded people online and in real life.

Have you ever attended a blogging conference and if so, what did you think?

I attended Britmums Live in 2012. It was my first and only blogging conferences. I sort of enjoyed it, but I sort of hated every minute of it. I found a lot of the people there too self-absorbed in just promoting their own blogs and grabbing for opportunities to make money and raise the profile of their blogs, rather than networking and sharing experiences with others and make friends, which was the reason I went. I’m hoping to attend Britmums Live 2017, I would love to meet some of the people whose blogs I read weekly.

What are your three best posts?

My three most popular posts based on number of hits are below, they’re not necessarily my favourite or what I consider to be the best written. I’ve got other posts with even more views, but I think that’s come down to the blog title and key search words. These 3 posts do reflect the content of my blog.

The best holiday we ever had with all 5 of our children in France in 2002.

Having an adult child in care.

How do you move on when there are still issues to resolve?

Describe yourself in 3 words.

Social, friendly, emotional.

Are you a tea and biscuits or coffee and cake person?

Tea at home, but no biscuits, they give me migraines. When I’m out I drink Latte and occasionally a cake.

What's your idea of the perfect night out?

We go out a lot, sometimes eating out 2-3 nights a week. We eat out together, with friends and colleagues. Peter enjoys the movies, but I have a neck injury, so find sitting for periods of time difficult. My perfect night out involves drinking, socializing and dancing, something I don’t as much of that I’d like.

And the perfect night in?

Having friends round for food and drinks, for a BBQ, just chatting and relaxing, these are often all day affairs rather than just evenings. In the evenings if we’re both in, we just watch TV, I blog and we eat junk food and takeaways.

What would your best friend/OH/mum or kids say is your best quality?

My family say I’m good at organizing things and getting things done, sorting out problems. However, they seem to think I’m good at it and enjoy doing it all, but then will accuse me of being bossy and taking over. I don’t enjoy doing this stuff; it’s just become my role and what they look for me to do for them.
