The day I flew to Orlando I was tagged in this ‘Being a Blogger is…’ meme by Catie, who writes at Diary of an Imperfect Mum, and I wrote the post while sitting on the plane.
Blogging has changed my life and I can't imagine what I would be doing right now if I wasn't a blogger. A bored stay-at-home mum I guess. With two school-aged children my days would be empty without blogging.
Being a blogger is…
A chance to be inspired. There are so many wonderful bloggers out there, and at first I saw them as my competition. I ruled myself out of the game before trying because they were so talented, I didn’t think I could compete. Now though things are different. Those same bloggers have been the ones that have cheered me on, inspired me on a daily basis, and are friends.
Being a blogger is…
Not something I ever thought I could earn money from but since starting blogging more consistently in January I’ve seen things grow. Little old me is starting to earn money through writing.
Being a blogger is…
Not easy. I'm always learning and find new rules to follow or new things to learn on a daily basis. You have to learn about tech things, social media, scheduling, time-management, and so much more.
Being a blogger is…
One of the best things I could’ve ever done. I started blogging because I found out that authors should blog. At first I only wrote one or two posts per month and my view figures were not great. As I learned more about blogging and began reading and interacting with parent bloggers I found my blog changed. I was still blogging erratically but felt better about what I was writing. Then in January I started ‘properly’ and I’ve seen my little corner of the internet grow into my new passion. I truly love it and can’t imagine doing anything else.
Being a blogger is…
Fun. I get to review products that the boys love, I get to go out for meals and do fun stuff. Some of the things I wouldn’t have even known about if it wasn’t for blogging. Blogging has opened doors I didn’t know were there.
Being a blogger is…
An opportunity to connect with like-minded people. People from all over the country, and the world, who love their children and want to share their lives. I have connected with so many people through blogging and it is a wonderful and supportive community.
Being a blogger is…
A chance to be the me I was always meant to be. Blogging works around my boys' timetables and that’s what I love. I can do something I feel is worthwhile and still be there for my boys, which is important to me. I am so pleased I stumbled across this thing!
There you have it, that’s what blogging is to me, what is it to you?
Hi Morgan so glad you accepted my tag. What a great post because it's nice to see that we share many feelings about blogging like giving a purpose and connecting with others. Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteThanks Catie. I do love doing posts like this, sharing my thoughts with the community that I've connected with. :) Thanks for the tag. x
DeleteBlogging opens up a whole new world, doesn't it? I've made so many friends through it, connected with like-minded people and had so many lovely opportunities blogging. Where would we be without it?!
ReplyDeleteOh I know, I'd be sooo bored without it! Blogging has made me step out of my comfort zone, I'm even attending my first blogging conference - Blogfest '15!! :)
DeleteI agree with everything you've said about being a blogger. It really has given me a focus during my maternity leave and has opened so many doors #fartglitter
ReplyDeleteThanks! That's great - glad you've enjoyed it! :)
DeleteIt's a bit addictive isn't it! #FartGlitter
ReplyDeleteOh it certainly is!
DeleteIt's like a secret world full of lovely people that live in your phone / tablet. A bit like Narnia... Fabulous #fartglitter x
ReplyDeleteHaha, it is a bit like Narnia isn't it?! I'll actually be venturing into 'Narnia' soon, Blogfest - where I'll actually get to meet the lovely people! x
DeleteGreat post, it's so good to read so many blogs that are successful, it really inspires me as a new blogger. #fartglitter
ReplyDeleteThank you Rebecca. x I love that newbie bloggers are coming along all the time, and I'm so touched that you think I'm successful! xx
DeleteI'm a newbie blogger and think the same now as you used to think. I cant imagine ever making money or doing reviews from my blog but the thing im getting out of it now is I enjoy writing and I enjoy reading others and meeting some nice people along the way! :)
ReplyDeleteoops forgot to put #fartglitter
DeleteThat's great Diane, I think you have to enjoy the writing first. Writing a blog needs to be about the love of it before you can do reviews. That's just my opinion of course. The reviews are great, and being paid to write is lovely, but what is the most satisfying is being paid to do something that I love to do. If you keep going, write from the heart and be yourself, you will get there. Believe it. xx
DeleteI love this tag as it really encourages you to think about why you're doing it and that's really helpful. Really interesting post, thank you
ReplyDeleteThanks! It is always good to remind yourself why you're doing it. x
DeleteSuch a lovely post showing how wonderful blogging and the world of blogging can be! Xx
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteA great post and lovely to know more about the blogger behind the blog. It's fab you're doing so well and feel so happy with where you've come to #kcacols
ReplyDeleteThanks! I do love sharing things about myself, it's almost like a diary!
DeleteI feel much the same. I started blogging because I liked reading blogs and I thought it would be a good way to get writing again. Now it is so much more. I just wish there were more hours in the day!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for linking up to #fartglitter x
Oh yes I know that feeling, I always want more time. I love writing, and for a while attempted to write a novel. In the end the blogging won and took over. I've never been happier!
DeleteOh I completely agree on all of these :) Being a blogger is brilliant - especially for being able to work it around your own schedule and family and for the opportunities and doors that open up that you might never have imagined! Lovely post :) Thanks for linking up to #KCACOLS and hope to see you back next Sunday! Mim x
ReplyDeleteOh I'll be there! I think it's surprising how many doors open, it's not something I ever imagined could turn into a career! I do now though. :)
DeleteI agree with you. I love that I can be creative write again and that it fits in around my busy family life! I've also met fantastic new people and found that bloggers are all supportive of each other. It's a brilliant world I'm glad I'm part of!

Bloggers really are supportive and helpful, I think it's mostly because we know we're all in it together. It's a lovely community to be a part of. :)
