About Beasty Baby

In a snow-laden forest lives an adorable, sweet yet totally mischievous baby. Watch the magical mayhem unfold as three people take on the job of raising this endearing little rascal.

Beasty Baby is a story of family life and the wonderful, but often challenging moments in a child's early years. Children will delight in the comical antics of Beasty Baby, whilst parents can reminisce on the chaotic magic of bringing up a child. It's one that will make the whole family smile.

Shona Powell, Director at Nottingham Lakeside Arts said

I'm so looking forward to seeing this gorgeously funny piece again. Audiences are charmed by Beasty Baby whose entirely believable behaviour makes children giggle delightedly, and thier grown-ups grin knowingly. It's another triumph for Theatre Rites and director Sue buckmaster who together have created something enchanting for all the family.

A winter wonderland setting and enchanting music makes Beasty Baby a charming production that is waiting to ignite a rosy Christmas glow in all of the family. Its ingenious use of puppetry is captivating and is sure to leave everyone in agreement that this little child is a beautiful beast.

At Lakeside Arts

To accompany the production, Lakeside is working in partnership with artist Jessica Kemp to transform its Wallner Gallery into Beasty Baby's wintery world. Explore the enchanting forest and the cosy log cabin where Beasty Baby's story takes place before or after the show.

Rachel Feneley, Learning officer at Lakeside says

Come and join us to make your own beasty for our Christmas installation in the Wallner Gallery. We'll be transforming the gallery to create a magical, wintery forest filled with snowflakes, wind chimes and icicles... plus some little Beasty Babies hiding in the trees. Help us make the magic of Christmas come alive!!

You and your family can join in the fun by helping to design the installation with the Lakeside team at their FREE drop-in session on Sunday 20th November, 1 - 4pm in the Wallner Gallery.
