The ideal PC for all the family

Whenever we think about travelling anywhere, like to visit family, we often have to have a car full of devices. There's iPads for the boys so they don't get bored in the car, Kindles if they fancy reading, and then there's work stuff for the Hubby, like his Macbook and iPad. But what if there was a device that would be good enough for everyone to use? A device that could be taken anywhere, was powerful enough to play games, but also useful for storing and editing family photos for example.

Intel recently sent me a Lenovo Ideapad to try out, it has their latest 8th Gen processor and Optane Memory (a new type of memory from Intel beyond the processors you know them best for) which means it can boot up fast. Now I'm not about to get all techy and start talking about its pixels or something. To be honest as long as it works and I can use it for all the things I do then I'm happy. But I will say it has a nice big screen and because the boot up is fast I can be blogging quicker which I think is great.

Family life

We all know that PCs are a part of life these days, even if you aren't a blogger, and having a good machine that can do everything is what we're all looking for. You want something that you can take places, that will hold all your family photos and allow you to edit, and perhaps even something you can play games on. And whether it's games or photos having a large screen is a bonus.

The memories we make with our family is everything.

Like most children my boys love playing games and watching movies, but this is something they miss out on if we visit family. They can take iPads and play simple games but their favourites are more complicated and can't be played on the iPad. Which is why they were so excited to find out I had been sent a "proper" PC to try out that is powerful enough for them to watch movies and play games and it has a 15.6 inch screen which is nice and big.

They loved that they could be playing games quickly thanks to the 8th Gen processor and Optane Memory and it meant that I could be chatting to my mother-in-law while they were quiet rather than asking them to be quiet every five minutes.

LP tried watching a movie too, and thought it was brilliant. He's asked if he can take it whenever we visit family so that he can watch all his favourite movies.

Work life

A PC isn't just useful for keeping the kids busy though and if, like me, you work from home having a machine that can do it all is important. Being able to pick up the laptop and be typing within a few seconds is brilliant, it means my work gets done quicker and I'm not sat waiting for the thing to boot up.

It's also great at editing photos too, something I do on a daily basis for work and something that can take up a lot of time. I like being able to get through it quickly and be back to writing rather than tapping my fingers on the desk while I wait for changes to take effect. That can be quite frustrating, particularly when you have a deadline.

Home life

Because this PC is great for everyone to use we keep it on the table in our lounge so that if someone wants to use it they can just pick it up - which the boys have done on occasion.

It's all about quality of life and finding a happy balance between work and friends and family.

Having a device that is responsive and quick and easy to use, but that doesn't cost the earth, is an essential part of home life and this Intel powered Lenovo IdeaPad 330 is ideal. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good all rounder.
