Post Comment Love 9th - 11th June

Hello you! Welcome back to another week of Post Comment Love where you can share your best/favourite post of the week to give it that extra bit of love. Stephanie and I will read and comment and our lovely linkers to #pocolo will hopefully head over and read too. Please do stop by some of the other linkers' posts and say hi!

I'm writing this post on Wednesday afternoon because I've got the plumber coming to fix radiators again tomorrow so won't have time to write a post. I've had so much on recently that I've almost forgotten what it's like to have a normal week. We've had plumber visits, carpet fitters visits, and hospital visits, and despite the boys being back at school I still feel like I'm catching up.

If you stopped by last week you'll know that I was worried about a letter I'd received from the hospital about my recent procedure after an abnormal result from a smear test. This morning I headed to the hospital not really knowing what to expect, but thinking that they wouldn't call me in for nothing.

Live life to the fullest, and focus on the positive.

I was right, it wasn't nothing.

A pathologist studied the biopsy and had found very small cancerous cells as well as pre-cancerous cells. When I heard the doctor say the c-word I wasn't sure I'd heard him properly at first but as he explained what that meant and the implications I realised he wasn't kidding. Before I go any further I will say that while they found those cells they were very small and they believe they cut it all out. However, it does mean that I need to go back and have another loop diathermy (have more of my cervix cut out!) so they can check and make sure there aren't more cancerous cells. After that there's a chance I may have to have a hysterectomy but let's not get ahead of ourselves. There's lots of waiting and other things before then.

I'm going to be writing about a post about how I'm feeling soon, but I wanted to give you all an update as I'd mentioned it in last week's Post Comment Love. All I can say is that I'm glad I went for my smear test when I did, who knows what would've happened if I'd put it off.

As for other stuff we've been trying to get back to normal while still having issues with our heating (cue lots of plumber visits). We've had issues with our boiler for a while but we'll have it sorted soon (I hope!). Typical though isn't it - the weather takes a turn for the worst just when we want our heating on and can't.

The boys are back at school after half-term and are glad to be seeing their friends again. They enjoyed a few outings during the break, I've linked my post about our trip to High Ropes with #ParkLives in which you'll see my very first video! I had quite a lot of fun creating that video and while it was a lot of work it made me wonder about more videos... we shall see.

Hope you had a good week, tell me the highlights of your week.

Blogger Showcase Kaiden Laverty

Who are you?

I’m Kaiden, I’m 24 and I live in Suffolk with my partner and our 2.5-year-old son. I work as a freelance writer and run a lifestyle & parenting blog. I used to be a screenwriter and fell into writing copy and content, but I couldn’t be happier about that!

How did you discover blogs/blogging?

I started blogging about 8 years ago, but I really got into it when I became a Dad. I guess I just had more to talk about.

Why did you start blogging?

Years ago, I did it because of my love for writing. I’ve been writing stories etc. ever since I was little so blogging became another excuse for me to write. When I started my parenting blog in 2013, I wanted to write about my experiences with parenthood and as a first-time Dad. My blog then developed and starting incorporating other topics, over time.

What do you find most challenging?

Since taking a career break, I’ve found it tough finding time for it in my schedule again alongside my tiny tornado of a son and freelancing. It’s an ongoing battle of work-life balance, but I’m getting there!

What is your favourite topic to write about?

My wonderfully, gorgeous boy, Joshua. I enjoy writing anything about parenthood but I do also enjoy writing about mental health.

Are you blogging for fun or do you have goals?

Initially, it was just for fun but it’s something I would love to earn a living from. But regardless of whether that happens, I’ll continue because that’s what writers do!

What is your favourite thing about blogging?

Getting all those thoughts I have floating around actually written down. The actual writing process is what I love and getting to tick it off my to-do list at the end.

Have you ever attended a blogging conference and if so, what did you think?

I haven’t, but I’d love to! But my area sucks for blogging events.

What are your 3 best posts?

My guest post on The Lifestyle Blogger:  Realising Our Son Has Autism

Dad, writer, dreamer.

Are you a tea and biscuits or coffee and cake person?

Tea and cake… wait, that’s allowed, right?

What’s your idea of a perfect night out?

Night out? What’s that?! I may be 24 but I haven’t stepped foot outside past 5:30pm in a long, long time.

Your perfect night in?

Now you’re talking! A bottle (or two) of wine (or perhaps cider), American Horror Story/The Walking Dead on Netflix and some snacks. Oh, and my partner can be there too, if he wants!

What would your best friend/OH/mum or kids say is your best quality?

I’m honest and speak my mind, although it can often be my downfall!

Thanks so much for answering our Blogger Showcase questions Kaiden, and feel free to grab our 'featured' badge and display it on your blog oh-so-proudly!
