Well with Christmas (OMG - yes I said the C word!) fast approaching I've got gift ideas on the brain. I've been scouring Amazon and other websites for ideas for everyone we need to buy for and am slowly adding to a list. Of course that doesn't help much with getting it all done but knowing what to buy is a start right?
Checking off the list will be more difficult!
We've also got lots of 40th birthdays coming up too, which means lots of events and celebrations. We have 4 within the next 6 months - do you get that, everyone celebrating a similar milestone birthday at the same time? I'm a little younger than most so mine isn't for a couple of years yet, but it's looming. It's funny though, I've never really been that bothered about a number. I mean, don't get me wrong I joke and stuff, I tell the kids not to say I'm 39 when I'm actually 37 and I laugh at my relatives who are turning 40 before me, but it's never really bothered me that I'm getting older. I think it's more of an issue when you're younger - like when you're turning 16, 18, and 21. Maybe even 30 - although I didn't really notice that one either. To me it's more about how you're feeling rather than the number - although saying that doesn't help me because I often feel older than 40! Anyway, I think focussing on a number can sometimes be a bad thing, especially if it makes you feel bad.
As for other stuff there's not much else going on. It's all about Christmas and birthdays for us. How about you?

Who are you?
My name is Kate Davis-Holmes, and I am a 49 year old blogger with a strong focus on helping women glide through the seasons of life with balance. I have lots of lifestyle categories. However, what I really like to do is to share inspirational women’s stories (and they all are!) and to share my personal thoughts and feelings. I am mum to my sons aged 12 and 17 and my 14 year old daughter. I am a home educator.
How did you discover blogs/blogging?
My late Mum was concerned that I was unhappy. She said I had always wanted to write so should actually do it even if that just meant keeping a diary. I knew my little girl would pinch any pretty diary so I looked up “online diary” and started a blog. Little did I know then that Mum would soon be announcing her terminal illness so my blog remains very much her legacy.
Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging because when my Mum told me to do something I did not argue. It really did keep me sane as I struggled with parenting young children and the horrors of post-natal depression. I was so lonely and blogging brought online friends which helped restore my mental wellbeing.
What do you find most challenging?
At first I found revealing who I was challenging so blogged anonymously for many years. Then I was scared to put a photograph of myself on the blog but eventually got naked to get over that one! Nowadays I find it challenging that if you want to monetise your blog it can take you away from things you might really want to write. I also find it tough how blogging can become all-encompassing when there are actually better things to do with your time sometimes.
What is your favourite topic to write about?
I love to share my personal joys and challenges. I also really like to celebrate individual women and give them a voice via my blog.
Are you blogging for fun or do you have goals?
I blog partly for fun and partly for money.
What is your favourite thing about blogging?
I love that it allows me the flexibility to work around my other responsibilities and to make some money in my own right. I also love the friends made along the way.
Have you ever attended a blogging conference and if so, what did you think?
I have attended several and worked at some too as a facilitator and speaker. I have seen my confidence at them grow over the years. I am always really bad at networking with brands though.
What are your 3 best posts?

Passionate, witty and intelligent.
Are you a tea and biscuits or coffee and cake person?
Coffee and cake. I drink way too much coffee to be honest.
What's your idea of a perfect night out?
It would always be the theatre for me. Although I love musicals I am happy to see just about anything. There is something about the theatre that I always find thrilling. I guess I would also include a lovely meal as part of the package..
What would your best friend/OH/mum or kids say is your best quality?
I think it would be honesty and loyalty.
