Post Comment Love 1st - 3rd June

Welcome back to another Post Comment Love with Stephanie and I - we're looking forward to seeing the wonderful posts this week.

Can you believe we're in June already? How on earth time flies so fast I have no idea! It wasn't so long ago I was a mum of two young children, racing around after them and trying to make sure no one got hurt and were fed properly. These days I spend my time talking to them and trying to make sure they don't kill (obviously not literally) one another!

With BP turning 14 in August, and LP already 9 years old, I feel like they're growing up fast and won't need me quite as much anymore. When you're a stay-at-home mum it's hard not to judge the passing of time by your children - when they are small and running around the house in nappies and playing with toddler toys you wish their time away and long for the days when you won't have to chase after them constantly. But when they're older and you're not chasing after them anymore you long for the old days!

I guess looking through old photos has got me thinking about the old days. As much as chasing after nappy-laden toddlers drove me mad, there are times when teenagers are just as bad! To be honest it hasn't been that bad this week, BP had plans with friends and LP spent a lot of the week (half term) either playing on the Xbox or going out on his bike with his dad.

Speaking of the bike, remember last week I told you about the Hubby and LP attempting to ride their bikes from Stoke-on-Trent to home? Like I said, they only wanted to try to get half way, but that in itself was quite a task. It's about 50 miles from home to the mother-in-law's house and they were determined to give it a go. We had no idea how far they would get, especially given that there are quite a few large hills they'd have to ride up and LP is only 9 years old after all.

They managed to ride about 23 miles in all! They stopped at a pub along the route and had lunch and a drink, and then got back on their bikes (like the crazy people they are!) and continued on the route. They rode through Ashbourne, up massive hills and put in lots of effort, and it wasn't until they were close to Derby that they decided they'd had enough. I was truly blown away by their efforts, and even more so when later that same day they went out again because LP wanted to be able to say he'd done a marathon on his bike! That boy never ceases to amaze me!

Of course they had to take a few days to recover, but I am so proud of both of them. They did something they didn't think would be possible and then outdid themselves by going for another ride later. Amazing.

It's been a quiet week for me, I've just been supporting my boys.

How has your half term been?

Blogger Showcase Ashley from Adventure Out There

Who are you?

My name is Ashley and I am a travel blogger. I am a Canadian who is currently living and working in France, and I really enjoy traveling and finding the opportunity to see new places.

How did you discover blogs/blogging?

At my former job in Canada, working full time at a camp, I met a lady who told me about a friend of hers who took photos and sold travel blog posts for a living, as she traveled around. Not long before this point, I had discovered my passion for writing and it inspired the idea to start my own travel blog and see where it took me.

Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging because I wanted to share with others what it was like to see different parts of the world, as well as inspire and help them, so that they could travel as well.

What do you find most challenging?

What I have found to be the biggest challenge in my blogging, is when I spend quite a bit of time writing and find out later, through analytics, that most of my work has been in vain, as very few people have taken time to read that particular post. Sometimes it can feel like I am doing a whole lot of work for nothing, but I think that at the end of the day, if I can help even just one or two people, it is worth it.

What is your favourite topic to write about?

I really enjoy writing on topics where I can give travel advice. There reason for this, is that I had to learn quite a few things the hard way, putting in time and energy to research, or losing money because I didn't know the correct way to go about things. When I discover tricks that really seemed to work, it makes me excited to share them with others, to help them out.

Are you blogging for fun or do you have goals?

As of right now, I am just blogging on the side. One day, hopefully as things progress, I can use my blogs as a source on income.

What is your favourite thing about blogging?

My favourite thing about blogging is the ability that it gives me to make a difference and to inspire other people. It is a way to reach out an help others within the comfort of their own homes.

Have you ever attended a blogging conference and if so, what did you think?

I have never had an opportunity to attend a blogging conference. I would imaging it would be pretty neat and the blogging community is very helpful and friendly, so it would be a really great opportunity to meet some kind, like-minded people.

What are your best posts?

I would have to say my 3 best posts would be my reflection on my time spent in Italy, "Exploring Italy," the article where I share how any person can manage to travel, "How to Travel When You Lack the Time and Money," as well as "How I Saved Almost $500 on My Flights to Europe".

Describe yourself in three words!

In three words I would describe myself as kind, determined and curious.

Are you a tea and biscuits or coffee and cake person?

Tea and biscuits or coffee and cake? Can I say tea and cake? Always love a good cup of tea - I currently work at a bar and stand behind it drinking tea when we aren't busy...There is almost no such thing as too much tea. And cake, who can go wrong with that?

What's your idea of a perfect night out?

My idea of a perfect night out is taking some quality time with close friends. Doing something bonding like an escape room or something adventurous always ranks high on my list.

Your perfect night in?

My perfect night in is a nice movie with a cup of tea and maybe some snacks. If I could have my sweetheart or even friends by my side, that would make it all the sweeter.

What would your best friend/OH/mum or kids say is your best quality?

I would imagine that my mother would describe my best quality as my genuine care for others.
