Wardrobe classics that never go out of style

Having a cluttered wardrobe means spending ages every morning rummaging through, trying to find something to wear. Constantly discarding things because they’re out of fashion or you can’t find anything good to go with them. It happens to all of us because fashion trends change like the wind. You buy a load of stuff and before you’ve had the chance to wear half of it, it’s completely out of fashion. This keeps happening and before you know it, your wardrobe is full to the brim and hardly any of it is good for wearing. The way to stop this from happening is to choose things that will never go out of style. Having a few carefully selected, versatile pieces will open up so many possibilities for you, and declutter your wardrobe at the same time; you can make hundreds of different outfits just by adding a few great accessories. These timeless classics are must-haves in any closet.

The White Shirt

One of the simplest, yet most versatile pieces of clothing out there. The white shirt has a long history; it was originally designed as an undergarment and it wasn’t until the early 1900’s when men started wearing them as work attire. Since then, it has grown and developed through the decades, taking many different forms. It first became a fashion item for women when Coco Chanel put it in one of her fashion shows. Plenty of other designers have picked it up over the last century, all putting their own spin on it. At the moment white shirts with frilly cuffs are the way to go, but it is still fashionable in any form.

The Black Dress

The black dress is probably one of the most iconic items of clothing in the world. Since it became popular in the 1930’s, it has been worn by so many different celebrities including Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn. There are a huge variety of styles out there so consider getting one floor length one as well as a shorter cocktail dress. These two options should cover you in just about any situation you can think of, and help you look stylish with very little effort.

The Trench Coat

The trench coat is a good topper for any outfit that you might be wearing. It looks great with any of your casual clothes, but it also looks fairly formal. That means you can wear it to work and still make a professional impression. On top of all that, it’s incredibly practical in cold and wet weather.

Flat Shoes

Choosing a pair of shoes to top off your outfit is perhaps one of the most time-consuming parts of getting dressed. If you can’t find anything then you’ll have to go back to square one and change your outfit for one that goes with a pair of your shoes. Having a decent pair of flat back shoes should solve that issue. They’ll go with most outfits apart from long dresses, you could still wear them but they won’t look great. Anything else will look fine so you don’t need to worry about shoes as much anymore.
