The Laundress - Review

In 2004 Gwen and Lindsey founded The Laundress, a New York Detergent and Fabric Care collection. Frustrated with "dingy white T-shirts, faded denim, and prematurely worn pieces" they created a range of products to clean your clothes and home.

The Laundress has lots of different products and I received two samples to try: Stain Solution and The Dish Detergent.

The Stain Remover

On the back of this sample it said to put it onto the stain and then wash the garment as usual. I did just that. The garment I used it on was LP's school jumper because he'd got black felt-tip pen on the front. I rubbed in the stain remover and put the jumper in the washing machine. When the cycle had finished I checked the jumper, the stain hadn't disappeared completely but had reduced. Again on the back of the sachet it says to soak the garment if it's a tough stain, this would be my next port of call. A bottle of the Stain Remover costs $18 for a 16 fl oz (473ml) bottle.

The Dish Detergent

To me dish detergent is all the same and anything that makes my life easier is good in my book. This detergent is much the same as my usual detergent with the added bonus that it is toxin-free and doesn't dry out my skin. The downside is the smell, I didn't care for it much. It is overpowering enough to put me off using the detergent. On their website they say that the Dish Detergent is unscented, if this is the case I would recommend getting a scented one. The Dish Detergent costs $12 for a 16 fl oz (473ml) bottle.

The Laundress is a company that prides itself on having products that are non-toxic and 100% biodegradable.

As a company in the US The Laundress offers free delivery on orders (to be shipped domestically) over $50. They do deliver internationally but international shipping fees may apply.

I received samples of The Laundress products for the purpose of review. All opinions are my own.
