A stargazing date night with Just Us Box

Being a parent to two school-aged boys getting a date night can be difficult, especially when you don't have family nearby who can babysit. Over the years the Hubby and I have had to resort to allocating time for ourselves in the evening while the kids are in bed.

Sometimes though carving out time for being together is low on the list of priorities. I know it shouldn't be but the day-to-day necessities of life take over and that time disappears. Before we know it it's been weeks since we last enjoyed a 'date night'.

The Just Us Box is here to help with this problem. Just Us Box is a subscription box in which you receive everything you need for an amazing date night. In the box you'll find 4-6 themed items, a date night plan, activities and challenges to ensure you have a great evening.

I was sent the July Just Us Box to review and when I opened it up and saw the theme I was a little excited.

I love looking at the stars, space has always mesmerised me, and being able to spend time with the Hubby outdoors without having to worry about babysitters sounded like an awesome plan. One problem with the box this month though was that it relied on the weather and so far we haven't been able to have our themed date night.

The Plan

Spend an evening after dark sitting outside looking at the stars.

Given that a) it's summer, and b) we live in the UK the stargazing hasn't gone to plan so far. Either it's too late by the time it's dark and we're far too tired to star-gaze or the clouds roll in and it's impossible to see any stars at all. I haven't let the typical UK weather dampen my spirits though, I know I'll use this box, even if I have to wait until Autumn!

The idea behind the Stargazing themed box is you spend an evening outdoors, looking at the stars, finding constellations, and talking to one another. There are challenges inside a silver envelope which try to help you get to know one another or be together without thinking about other responsibilities.

The activities sheet starts with a "how to" guide, suggesting ways to enjoy the outdoors. It then lists Astronomical events to look out for so you may have something extra special to see. Add to that their "Must See Constellations" and suggestions of great stargazing apps you could use to help you find the stars and planets, this activities sheet could prove very useful.
