It's been a while since I wrote a health and weight loss update and after the Christmas period I think it's finally time to get back to it.
I always struggle at the very start of the year because Christmas has only just passed, the fridge is filled with deliciousness, and my birthday is soon to come.
My birthday was this weekend and there was lots of eating and drinking involved. Needless to say I gained a few pounds! To be honest though I haven't weighed myself since before Christmas so the gained pounds are probably a combination of Christmas, New Year, and my birthday.
If you're a regular reader of my health posts you'll know that before Christmas I was struggling. I couldn't find the motivation to do exercise, the weather was getting me down, and I was just not bothered about gaining weight. Okay, that's not exactly true - I was bothered but I wasn't willing to put the effort in to do something about it.
I beat myself up constantly over the festive period and managed to make myself feel really bad, as a consequence I ate more - a vicious cycle.
But now I am ready to start eating healthier food, and so is my body. I've not been feeling great, my energy is low most of the time. It's funny the things you notice about yourself when you've managed to get down to a healthy weight.
Again because of the weight gain I'm feeling sluggish, a lot of the time I cannot be bothered to cook a healthy meal never mind watch what I'm eating. However, I'm determined to put the effort in now and I'll be keeping a close eye on what I eat.
I'm restricting my chocolate intake, cutting down on the food that's bad for me, and I'm hoping that soon I'll be able to get back to my running. I'll also be trying out some yoga videos, I think I'll be mixing it up a bit rather than sticking to one particular routine so if you have any tips or have spotted a great yoga video let me know!
Post Christmas Update
Weight: 12st 5.9lbs
I think it's a good idea to keep an eye on measurements as well as weight, sometimes you can not lose any weight but you somehow manage to have a smaller waist. I have no idea how that works but I've known it to happen.
Anyway, wish me luck.
How has your weight loss journey been over the festive period?
