Do Mums Do All The Work At Christmas?

I read an article on the Telegraph website today basically saying that mums do all the work at Christmas.

Now although I'm sure that's the case in some households in mine, and many others, it most certainly is not.

My Hubby is a star when it comes to Christmas shopping and wrapping presents.

In fact when I think of it, he helps with everything, including Christmas Lunch. He helps me do the food shopping when it comes time, reminds me to buy particular things, and helps me plan for the day.

This year I'll be cooking Christmas lunch for 15 people, all of whom are his family. That's partly due to the fact that my family lives so far away but either way, whether it's his side or mine, they're family.

I don't understand the argument that you should each buy for your own side, what's that all about?

I consider the Hubby's mum to be my mum, his dad to be my dad. When you marry or become serious with a partner you inherit their family as yours. That's just how it is.

Like I said the Hubby has helped me plan the lunch, which believe me takes some planning. He's been there with me every step of the way when buying presents and wrapping them. To be honest he's better at it than me, there's a clear distinction between the presents he's wrapped and the ones I did. Mine kind of look like a 3 year old tried to wrap them!

Okay so "Father Christmas" is the main dude when it comes to this time of year, and yes sometimes it's easy to forget all the work that goes into making the day wonderful, but I don't think it's right to presume that it's the mums that do everything.

In our household we work together, as a team, with pretty much everything we do. We're doing this whole family thing together. We're raising our children, we're being parents, and together we're making these days as happy as we possibly can.

I cannot take all the credit.

Yes I work hard this time of year, but so does the Hubby.

Together we make Christmas what it is.

It's a team effort.
