12 Secrets at Universal Orlando Resort

As you know we're heading to Orlando in a few weeks, we're all so excited to be going and can't wait to go on the rides and enjoy the wonderful food.

Hogwarts - you can go inside and everything!

But the rides and food is not all there is to enjoy in Universal Orlando and this year I'll be checking out the different stuff, like...

Find Dr. Seuss

LP is a huge Dr. Seuss fan, but he doesn't know what the famous writer looked like. I've just discovered a secret - can you keep a secret?

As you walk down Mulberry Street near the Seuss Trolley Train Ride you'll see a police motorcycle you can sit on and snap a photo. Above that motorcycle are three characters holding flags - Dr. Seuss is the man on the left in the glasses!

Talk to the Goblin at the Money Exchange

At Gringott's Money Exchange in Diagon Alley, guests can trade their Muggle cash for Wizard money to be used anywhere in the park. If you do head into the Money Exchange don't miss the chance to talk to the goblin handling the transaction. Ask him a question and he'll respond!

You could try asking him about the dragon at Gringott's.

Spot Special Guests in the Queues

Most of the ride queue lines are indoors, good given the immense heat, and guests are treated to lots of distractions to help the time fly. Some rides have video clips that immerse you in the theme of the ride, some include subtle nods to older rides that have been replaced. On the queue for The Simpsons Ride, you can look out for an animated Doc Brown - a nod to one of the original rides at Universal, Back to the Future. I LOVED that ride and was sad to see it go.

On the Men in Black: Alien Attack ride you can look out for your chance to shoot Steven Spielberg!

Spot the Hidden "Adam" in Marvel Super Hero Island Art

13 Secrets at Universal Orlando Resort | Morgan's Milieu: Adam drawn into the art.

I've only just found this out but the artist behind the huge superheroes on Marvel Super Hero Island, Adam Kubert, wasn't allowed to sign his name on his work. But he found a way to hide an "Adam" in each piece! I'm definitely going to be looking out for these and I'll let you know what I find.

Venture Down Knockturn Alley

Another one I've missed before but I'll keep my eye out this time...

The dark, brick alley looks like it might be a dead end, but if you wander in you'll find the famous vanishing cabinet and all forms of incredible Dark Arts artefacts.

Pass Through the Wall on Platform 9 3/4

This is a new, must-see experience. Universal has created an effect that allows people in the queue to see those ahead seemingly pass through a solid brick wall to Platform 9 3/4. The "wall" is where you enter the tunnel to the platform, but you can't see the effect as you walk through, only those in line behind you and around a corner will see it. You have a better chance of seeing it if you're in line for the Hogwarts Express at Kings Cross Station and the queue is on the longer side.

Listen to the Troll Groan

Mythos Restaurant is a fantastic place for food (we'll definitely be visiting) and legend has it that there's a troll under the bridge behind the restaurant. Wander around back and stomp over the bridge to try and "wake" the troll, and if you hear nothing you can always enjoy the scenery.

Call the Ministry of Magic

There's a red phone booth in front of Kings Cross Station, for that added magic. Step inside and snap some photos and while you do dial MAGIC (62442) and you'll hear a special message from the Ministry of Magic. LP and I are doing this - he'll LOVE it.

Tour the Men in Black Immigration Room

Apparently this is part of the VIP experience you can purchase at Universal, Orlando but some visitors say you can get into the immigration room (seen from above the queue for the ride) if you ask a crew member and it's a slow day at the park.

Unlock secret Songs on Rip Ride Rocket

This is one for BP and the Hubby (I don't do roller-coasters) but I'm sure they'll love to hear it. When boarding the Rip Ride Rocket you get to choose from a list of songs to listen to during your ride. You can unlock a secret playlist of songs if you hold the logo button for 10 seconds after buckling in and enter any three-digit number. I remember when the Hubby first went on this ride he raved about the music, now he'll be even happier!

Send a Letter from Hogsmeade

You can actually post letters from Hogsmeade Village! Have your letter with you and visit the Owl Post in Hogsmeade Village to send mail with a Hogsmeade postmark.

Talk to Nagini

At the Magical Menagerie shop in Diagon Alley you can find Nagini, the pet snake of He Who Shall Not Be Named, near the oversized windows. It is said that the glass is enchanted with parseltongue, and you can hear the snake talk to you. Another thing that LP will love.

I can't wait to find all these new things!
