Health and Weight Loss Tips 21

Well, the kids went back to school this morning and the house is almost quiet. The Hubby is downstairs working and I'm in my room ready to get lots of blogging done.

Okay so the weight hasn't shifted as much as I'd hoped for. Although, saying that, I weight 10st 8.9lbs yesterday and I don't know why I put on that extra weight. I was super-good yesterday.

I'm focusing on the good, the weight is down.

I dragged myself out of bed at 6am this morning and went for a run. I haven't been on the treadmill for ages and I thought it was time I did. It was tough making myself get out of bed but I did and ran 1.5 miles. I've said before that running first thing in a morning really gets me set up for the day, I feel amazing and can get lots done.

Today has been no different, I'm energised and even though my weight isn't what I want it to be it's not getting me down.

The Hubby and I got a new app for our phones this week, it lets us track the calories we're eating. MyFitnessPal lets you list what you've eaten through the day, you can even scan the barcode on your food and it will know the calories and makes things easier to add. We've only been using it for a couple of days but it's already made a difference to our eating habits.

So after last week's slump I've got my motivation back and I'm determined to make progress. The Hubby is also in the mood for weight loss which makes things easier for me.

Tip: Have a friend go on the journey with you

I always find weight-loss easier when the Hubby is trying too. When he wants to lose weight I don't have to fight with him about eating sweets and chocolate and we both make significant progress because we encourage each other. We can turn to the other if we're struggling and know we'll find support.

If you can enlist a friend or partner to work with you on your weight loss journey you'll both find it much easier. Go on walks together, be honest with each other about your weight, and encourage one another.

I'm hoping for a better week again next week, hopefully the scales will feel better and I'll be lighter!

  1. Well done for getting out of bed and going for that run - it's a great feeling when you've done it, but doing it takes some effort :) #pocolo

    1. Oh it certainly does Stephanie! It did take a lot of willpower to get my legs to move. Thanks. xx

  2. Well done so far! Try not to get hung up on stepping on the scales. Try to limit it to once a week. Total body weight can fluctuate sooooo much throughout the day. :) x

    1. Thanks Michelle. I weigh myself first thing every morning - not because I'm obsessed with stepping onto those scales but because I've found it to be the most useful way of tracking my weight. I try not to get too down about the fluctuations (periods, alcohol the night before). This way I get to see what certain foods do to my weight. I'm suggesting it's for everyone but it works for me. :)

  3. Well done! I really need to do more and the fact that a few of the blogging posts I've read today are talking about exercise tells me that the universe is trying to tell me something!

    1. Thanks! Hehe, I think it must be the time of year, everyone is trying to get ready for their holidays or the summer. If you're not ready to do it then there's no point starting. You have to be ready. And start small too, even taking short walks can help when you're just starting out. :) Thanks for stopping by and commenting. xx

  4. Hi Morgan, love the positive attitude and the fact that you haven't let last weeks slump affect this week. I love a morning run too and agree totally that it sets you up for the day (and revs up the metabolism for the day, much better than an evening run).

Keep up the positive attitude and you'll be reaching your goal weight before you know it!

    xx

    1. Ah thanks so much Debbie. I think you're right, a positive attitude is most of the fight, as long as you can hold on to that anything is possible!

Thank you for your lovely comments. xx
