Health and Weight Loss Tips 24

I'm feeling a little worse for wear this morning after a night of heavy drinking. My head hurts, my body aches, and I was drinking on a school night too - that'll teach me.

Both the weight loss and exercise have been going well this week and I'm really pleased again. I may be suffering but I can smile about that!

I feel like I've crossed a barrier and something has finally clicked. Of course it could be do to with the fact that I've been eating less and exercising more too.

I am feeling it this week, my calves are tense, my thighs ache and when I walk I can now feel my bottom! My muscles ache so much but by feeling the tense muscles in my bottom it must mean it's working right?

This sudden burst of activity I'm putting down to our new app, MyFitnessPal. Both the Hubby and I make better food choices because we're always considering the impact. We won't have that extra chocolate bar because it will cost us later.

It is also what helped us realise what difference alcohol makes, and it's huge. To be able to drink last night I had to do two long walks equaling 19,000 steps. One large glass of our favourite tipple can be up to 350 calories!

Tip: Don't drink alcohol!

Even if you think your favourite alcohol has low calories consider what drinking does. Not only are you consuming extra calories but after you've had a drink you're more likely to cave and have a chocolate bar or a pack of crisps. Not good.

Not to mention the fact that you end up suffering afterwards too.

Now if you don't mind I'm off to stick my head in the freezer and then have a nap.

  1. I don't drink alcohol at all and haven't for years so for me that's one area of life that I can feel smug about (doesn't happen often, believe me!). I have always found My Fitness Pal to be incredibly effective. I'm just that much more aware of what I'm consuming. Unconscious eating is a big problem for me. x

    1. I totally agree. It's the unconscious eating that gets you every time!

  5. Hope you're feeling better already. I always snack when I'm drinking alcohol and it goes against everything I'm trying to achieve with maintaining a healthy weight! Note to self: stop drinking wine in the evening! Good luck with the weight loss and exercise.

    1. Thanks Izzie. Alcohol is the downfall of every person trying to lose weight. We haven't drank anything for a while so I think we drank a little too much! Hehe, it's always the way isn't it? :)
