Health and Weight Loss Tips 13

Last week I said I'm still struggling to shift the weight, something isn't working and it was time to step it up. On Wednesday I went for my first run in about 2 months.

When I stepped onto the treadmill on Wednesday I didn't think I'd be able to run very far without getting out of breath. I haven't been running for months and I know it's hard to retain that ability if you don't keep up the exercise. After dropping the boys off at school I stepped onto the treadmill, switched on my music and began. 

The familiar rhythm of my feet pounding the treadmill was nice and I soon got into the swing of it. I started out slowly, jogging while listening to a song, but then decided to go for it. Before I took a break from running I could run a whole mile before needing to slow down. I'd built that up from not being able to run throughout one song. As a new song started I sped up and began running, I ran through three songs before I needed to stop. That might not sound like much but for me it was epic, it meant that I hadn't lost everything I worked so hard for.

After a walk I ran again and really got into the rhythm, and when I got tired my music kept me going. The beat of the music kept my feet moving and if it hadn't been for that I'd have stopped way before I did.

Tip: ALWAYS play great, upbeat music.

For me the music is what kept me going, hearing familiar songs that I could keep the beat with was brilliant. I sang along with the songs in my head and some of them even made me smile. They made me forget how hard it was and even though my thighs ached and my chest burned I kept going. It left me feeling amazing when I finished. 

On Thursday my legs ached lots and I didn't do much walking, I didn't want to push myself too far. For my first run in a long time I was happy with the results and I think going for the run was the reason I managed to shift that 1.3lbs.
