Pause

After taking Monday off last week to teach a friend about blogging and then getting ill on Tuesday evening my word count is a big fat 0. The likelihood of getting any done this week is low too because it's half-term.

Muddled Manuscript

Right now I've got Little Prince in my room working on a time activity. The Hubby is downstairs trying to work and Big Prince is playing on his iPad. I'm trying to think of activities to keep the little one occupied enough that I could get some writing done but it's not happening. The most I'll get done is this blog post.

Morgan's Milieu | Pause: Novel writing is on pause during half-term holidays.

On a positive note my creativity is itching to get out and my characters keep popping into my head. Ideas are swimming around waiting to be unleashed. I love this feeling and hope it stays until I can get some writing time.

At the moment I'm clinging to positivity, knowing I can write more than 1,000 words in 30 minutes is keeping me going. Once I get those 30 minutes I'll be on a roll again. The funny thing is I can remember where I was in the story. It's been more than a week since I last looked at it and I remember the last words I typed!

I can't wait to get back to it but until then my week will be filled with activities and outings.

What are you going to be doing during half-term?

  2. Sorry to hear you've been ill - hope you're better now. With all that positivity and motivation it doesn't sound like it will take you long to get that word count shooting up again though! Thanks for linking to #whatimwriting

    1. The illness was horrible but yes, all better now. I have no idea how I'm staying so positive but like I keep saying, I'm clinging to it!

  3. It's ok to take a break and it's great that you still have it in your head. It means that you'll be back in to it no problem. That's down to being so dedicated and working on it everyday.

    1. Ah thanks Nicola, I've struggled for so long to get to this point that I can't believe I've actually got here! I agree it's okay to take a break, sometimes you need it!

  4. It sounds like it's all going on in your head, which is great, hope the 'pause' allows you to work through the ideas and that you can get them all down once you're able to press play again! Enjoy half term :) #whatimwriting

  5. Ah these enforced breaks can be quite frustrating when you're on a roll, can't they? It sounds like you're in a great place with your writing though, so I'm sure you'll get right back into it when you get the time. And in the meantime have a lovely half term! I have a friend staying this week so my writing will be limited too... But I'm sure we'll have fun :) x

  6. Ahh half term makes it so tricky! Even reading these pots I have little people coming and asking me to do things. I hope next week will be better? x

    1. Oh yes, the little ones running around means no writing gets done. But on the plus side I get to see them happy and enjoying life so there's my silver lining! This week is already better, I've got lots done. :)

  7. I think holiday periods are incredibly tough and I've learnt to relax more about what to expect in terms of word count etc. Having said that, I had a bad week last week too so am very behind but never mind! I manage the occasional evening and that's about it. I hope you enjoy the rest of half term x

    1. My writing time is when the boys are at school, so holidays are tough, especially summer. However, I'm enjoying the time with my boys. I know it won't be long before they're both to cool to play with mum!

I hope you have a better week writing wise. xx

  8. See, taking a break just serves to emphasise that your brain needs that sometimes for creativity to flow! I know what you mean though about productivity taking a back seat for half term! I can barely send a text message! Thanks so much for linking to #AllAboutYou - hope you're writing all those ideas down!

    1. The breaks are good for the creativity because it means I'm not just focused on one thing. The ideas flow and my notebook gets filled! Hope you had a good break Zaz, I did but I'm glad the boys are back at school now, I was ready for writing again! :)
