Organised

In our house we have two spare rooms, one downstairs and one upstairs. Both of these rooms were filled with junk over the years; old toys that I couldn’t throw away, old clothes that the boys had grown out of and old shoes (who knows why).

We started a clear-out a couple of weeks ago and filled the car with bin bags full of junk. It took three trips to the local recycling centre to empty both rooms. I can see the carpet in there now!

The start of this week I spent my time making sure uniforms were washed, ironed and ready. I got winter coats out as the weather turned and had new school bags and lunch boxes ready for the start of school.

I have now realised, after spending the day working in my office, that I need a bigger desk. My current desk is very narrow and I can’t work properly. I feel squashed in, even though the room feels so much bigger. This weekend there will be a trip to Ikea to get me a new desk.

I have spent the last couple of weeks putting things in their place and that's why my Word of the Week is ORGANISED.

Everything in its place, a tidy house, and peace and quiet when the kids are at school. Bliss.

  1. I want to get into our loft and have a huge clear out as one is well overdue, however I think I'll only be able to do this if my children aren't around as they'll just want to keep everything!

    1. Oh I know what you mean, my two always want to keep things I've put away. You have to sneak them out of the house otherwise you end up with boxes and boxes of old toys that they say they still want to play with! I'm lucky that my loft is fairly empty - although saying that I did put a few boxes up there this weekend!

  2. It sounds like you have been busy! It's so much easier to organise when the kids are at school....hehehe

    1. Yes it is much easier when the kids are at school. I find my head is more clear too, which is always a good thing! Thanks for stopping by and commenting. xx

    1. My desk is great, thanks. Much bigger than the one I was using, I have plenty of space to spread out. I always feel better after de-cluttering, it's almost therapeutic. :)

  4. I need to do this! I am semi organised but need to get to the point where every room is really organised #WotW

    1. I don't know that I'll ever get to that point! But just organising a couple of rooms has made us all feel a lot better, and we know where more things are now. I don't think any parent could be organised all the time, semi-organised is the way to go! ;)

  5. I wish my word could be "organised" - I had really hoped to get on top of all sorts of things once the boys were back at school but a whole raft of events and the odd crisis have scuppered those plans. Oh well - there is always next week!

    1. Ah yes, life always gets in the way doesn't it? Whenever I plan to do something life always manages to throw a spanner in the works! I hope this week is better for you and good luck with the sorting things. xx

  6. My boys especially need to learn this word "organised" even though I am not very organised myself. I learnt through circumstances like now - after being a mother to 4, out of which 3 are boys and I have only 1 organized girl. ;)

    1. Oh dear, yes boys do tend to be a little more 'scatter-brained' sometimes! I'm lucky that I have times when I am super organised, the rest of the time I'm just like my children. :)
